Meet the Authors

Rio Barrett, Sue Gardner and Lynn Henry, have joined together to develop the Applied Equine Behaviour courses. They combine a wealth of experience with horses and a broad training base and have all been teaching horsemanship independently for many years.

Rio Barrett

Profile Pic for Rio BartlettRio received conventional equestrian training through the Pony Club and BHS system and competed extensively in Dressage and Eventing. After passing her Stage 3 her focus changed when she witnessed a demonstration of Parelli Natural Horsemanship. She studied intensively for several years, passing their exams to become one of their first instructors in the UK. She is a published author of 101 Horsemanship Exercises, regular contributor to a national magazine and is also a qualified teacher using her broad based knowledge she now teaches riding and horsemanship independently and is passionate about making this information available to everyone through education.

Sue Gardner

Profile Pic for Sue GardnerSue enjoyed success as a junior competitor throughout Pony Club, passing her tests and qualifying for Prince Philip Cup. Sue went on to compete in all equine sports but specialised in Show Jumping, Cross Country and in later years in Endurance Riding where she was placed at every event. By the age of 17 Sue had a reputation for taking on ‘problem horses’ and for starting horses gently. Over the past twenty years Sue has been an integral part to the growth of Natural Horsemanship both in Australia where she used to live, and in the past 8 years back in the U.K. where she headed the Parelli Offices in Sussex, Cornwall and Devon. Sue has produced a video on Trailer Loading Techniques and writes for Natural Horsemanship Magazines. Sue, along with an experienced team are developing courses for the education system in Applied Equine Behaviour.

Lynn Henry

Profile Pic for Sue Gardner Lynn Henry was a biology teacher for ten years, but gave up this career to bring up her young children. Now living on a small holding it seemed natural to buy a pony and ride. She has studied and trained with some of the leading figures in horsemanship and has extended her knowledge to include a holistic approach to horses. Lynn is a horse and human healer, and has qualified as a horse Iridology practitioner after studying with Helen Collinson. Lynn is also a qualified Shiatsu for horses practitioner with the Scottish school of Horse Shiatsu. She has published through Kenilworth Press Think Like A Pony Foundation Book. The second book (in a 3 part Series) Think Like A Pony On the Ground will be available in Autumn 2007. At the moment Lynn is writing Think Like a Pony in the Saddle, which will be published in 2008.
